DRAFTSMEN is a monoline font inspired by the traditional draftsmen handwriting seen on early 20th century blueprints and shop drawings. Engineers, draftsmen, and architects relied on single-stroke gothic capitals to mark dimensions, and notations. They were drawn quickly, clearly, and with single strokes. The look was shaped by the tools of the trade: round Speedball "B" nibs.
Draftsmen is ideal for projects with lots of copy - including blueprint-style graphics, comic book captions, diagrams, labels, and packaging details.
What's Included:
Four stylistic sets (`ss01–ss04`) capturing handwritten variations.
Contextual Alternates (`calt`) that shuffle between all four styles to reduce repeats and mimic real handwriting.
Uppercase, numerals, punctuation and multi-lingual characters.
Format Behavior:
OTF: Includes CALT + `ss01–ss04` for full handwriting simulation (auto-swapping variants in running text).
Variable fonts: Exported per-style (one VF for each stylistic style) and does not include contextual alternate functionality.
Use variable files when you want continuous weight fine-tuning within a style, without the CALT shuffling.
Languages Supported:
Draftsmen supports English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Dutch, along with broad Latin-Extended coverage for additional European and African languages.
